One of the most widely used frameworks for problem solving is the Osborn-Parnes CPS Model. Creative problem solving is a way of solving problems or identifying opportunities when conventional thinking has failed. It encourages you to find fresh perspectives and come up with innovative solutions, so that you can formulate a plan to overcome obstacles and reach your goals. CPS gets you to separate divergent and convergent thinking that results in powerful problem solving and solution generation. There are some quick brain hacks that we use to get the best from the thinking in the room.
Once a solution has been agreed, we use the ACT (Apply Consequential Thinking) from Six Seconds to evaluate the costs and benefits of the decision so the team can be well prepared to implement.
Both processes (CPS & ACT) are used on an existing problem. Once the team sees the results, they will be well equipped to use the processes to tackle other challenges.
